Two weeks later than normal we joined forces with the Cortina MkI Owners Club and the 105E Anglia Owners Club once again for the best weekend of the year, our joint National Rallies at the Stratford Upon Avon Racecourse.

We had almost perfect weather for the event as unlike last year, it stayed dry and had nothing like the heat of the previous weeks.

We’ll be back again next year for our usual 1st weekend in August – Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd – put it in your diaries now. See you there!

Our Saturday ride out this year was to the Cotswold Motoring Museum at the very picturesque Bourton-on-the-Water.

As parking at the museum is very limited organiser Andy Turnbull picked out 5 Cortinas, a mix of MkI and MkIIs, from the many on the run to display in front of the museum.

It’s show time!

The Mark Blows Memorial Trophy

Each year at our National Rally we say thank you with the Mark Blows Memorial Trophy (previously the Malcolm Streatfield Trophy) by awarding it to the member that has contributed the most to the Ford Cortina MkII Owners Club over the previous twelve months. This year the committee took the very unusual step of awarding it to a fellow committee member.

Following the sudden and unexpected passing of membership secretary Steve Vincent in the spring, current chairman Graham Bird immediately volunteered to make sure the very important membership renewal period wasn’t affected. Graham had absolutely no idea about his nomination and win until club founder and spares man Pete Pascoe interrupted prizegiving to make the presentation.

On behalf of the membership, our thanks to Graham Bird for stepping up when it really matters to keep the club running.
